Best, flavor text ever. Because monks should be bowing holdings for gold during the open phase for weapons, this guy is a solid early arc gold producer. Now I just need a unicorn commander that encourages the workers, and unbows a holding.

Re: FL-Yamazaki
As most of you know, i much prefer utility abilities on my monks, like Shinran's, over battle actions. Having said that the open ability on Yamazaki is brilliant.
The only thing that really keeps me from being really excited about the personality is the force/gold. 7gold might as well be 8 in my deck as i don't have a single odd production holding and the 4 force potentially keeps Yama from taking provinces with a Mods/WBB.
Anyways, between Yama and Omigawa, monks have a solid line-up going into EE. I'm praying that Shinran makes it back into rotation so that Yamazaki's ability doesn't go to waste.
Edit: Turns out that traits can be used multiple times per turn, including gold producing traits... Yamazaki is stupid good.

1. Yeah, he is balls deep ridiculous
2. 7g is appreciably different from 8g since you only need a shinomen and not a border village/your box to buy him along with a 2g producer

You know whats funny? Post BtD/Forgotten Legacy i will be running 19 holdings, none of them being Shinomen Marsh. Oh, and no Border Villages either...

The border villages confuse me, the shinomen doesn't...

Re: FL-Yamazaki
He's running secluded outposts. 6g for that holding. Means he can't reliably run tsi mokotsu or border village.
Thing is, the secluded's work brilliantly for him and his gold scheme (all based on 4's and 8's)
He literally doesn't have a single odd producing holding in the deck.

Oh right, secluded... I always forget about that beast because I can't really run it all that well :/ *sad face* No reason to run it either.

Re: FL-Yamazaki
A good turn 2 for my deck is to use secluded + border keep to buy a 8 gold body then attach a 8g weapon using the box, that leaves me 2g for another holding.
Each turn afterwards i usually buy a body w/ weapon and multiple holdings.
One of the big keys to the deck is to have a lot of holdings in play as most of my utility comes from the holdings. Its very important for this deck to have permanent encampments and wooden barricades out. Without the extra gold i also have a hard time keeping the weapons on the table.
For the most part, i really don't care what my personalities can do in battle. I usually win by forcing through one massive unit that my opponent can't deal with.
That's why Yamazaki is so amazing. He streamlines my holdings at the expense of a battle ability i wouldn't care about anyways.

Re: FL-Yamazaki
Might as well just replace Tetsuo with this guy, that way the gold curve stays the same. Free money seems more useful than Tetsuo's ability.

Re: FL-Yamazaki
As of right now Tetsuo has to stay as he is the key personality against other attachment decks. . Most of my actions require me to compare force, so one of the decks biggest weakness is against other decks that attach weapons and get out of range of my actions. In those match-ups i fish for Tetsuo to remove there items.
As of right now it looks like i'll be dropping Ao-bozu, his action is almost never relevant. I may have to restructure my gold scheme if i do. I'll play around with it over the next week to see what i'm comfortable with.

I know it is probably a dumb n00b question, but then I am a dumb n00b.
Can somebody help me understand what his gold-producing trait is?

He unbows a holding... as an open action. Since monk-kensai equips weapons, unbowing any holding, allows you to double the production of gold from that holding for the turn, as Traits (like bow this card to produce 2 gold on nearly every holding) are not limited to once per turn. So, on both yours and your opponents turn while this guy is unbowed, he can unbow a holding. He produces X gold as an open action, essentially, where X = the amount of gold a holding can produce. For richard, with a secluded in play, that number is 4.

Re: FL-Yamazaki
Oh, I see! The trait is on the holding, not the character.
Thanks for the explanation.
