Advantages:

Higher Purpose (3 points): Justice of the Iron Book
As a vassal of the newly renewed following of the Shi-tien Yen-wang, The Lords of Death, Gaipan is a devoted worshiper of the Lords of Death. During his initial indoctrination it was found that his connection with the realm that the lords rule from was stronger than most. His ability and calling in life is one of higher purpose, spreading the worship of the Gaijin Gods and dispensing their laws and justice in the mortal realm. He knows that he will make foes during his task and they might endanger him at times, but death is acceptable, for so long as he has served the Lords well, he shall be reborn to serve them again. Death is never the end.

Touched by Meido (4 points):

From a very young age Gaipan was touched by the spirits and the kami alike, his connection to the realm of Meido left him a somewhat cold individual, but one with an extreme sense of justice and truth. When kids picked on the weak, he was there to defend them, when others would lie, he could tell. Not even his parents with their caring manner could protect him from the dark side of life in rokugan, death was death to Gaipan, and he accepted that. It was not till his worship of the Lords began that he realized the benefits of this for his connection and calling to the Lords was strong. His will alone brought their eye upon the foes of justice.

Friend of the Elements (3 points): Fire

While all shugenja are touched, the teachings of unicorn shugenja tend to weigh more towards water and air. Gaipan disliked the whimsical nature of the air kami, although their ability to seek out the small details was incredibly helpful to his investigations as a magistrate. Water as a flowing tool was one that he used and understood well. But when danger threatened it was the fire kami, an old friend of his that he delighted in calling upon to destroy his foes. Though not known to many, the first spell ever cast by Gaipan was one of fire, for he agrees with the angry nature and their ability to compliment his need to punish the wicked. Gaipan is a friend of the flame, and many an evening has been spent looking into the fire of a hearth.

Disadvantages: (+10 exp)
Disturbing Countenance (3 points): Death Priest
Gaipan is a Death-Priest, one of the first generation of devout followers and worshipers of the Shi-tien Yen-wang. His mannerisms, worship of, and style of dress is disturbing to others, even more so than his intimidating nature and rash manner of investigation in regards to his duties as a Magistrate.

Cursed by the Realm (5 points): Sakkaku
While Gaipan's fortune and connection to Meido is strong, he is also cursed by the realm of Mischief, Sakkaku. Spirits from the realm occasionally played cruel tricks on him as a child, perhaps leading to his dark brooding mood and sense of justice. To this day he occasionally falls victim to their antics, until he manages to locate and banish the culprits himself with his fiery wrath. If anything upsets Gaipan more, its the antics of rogue spirits of Sakkaku playing tricks, many a bucket of water has fallen upon his head at their mirth and delight.

Gaijin Name (2 points): Gaipan
Gaipan is a play on words, refering to Gaijin. Gai meaning outside, Pan referring to a term introduced from foreign lands, meaning bread.

Just realized, I'm 1 point away from going up an insight rank... So... I'm just gonna bump up the level, get my new spell anyways, and move on.
