Seems solid for a thunder deck where the ranged attack can increase to get to the upper level peeps then promptly kill the Personality under it.

is it me or is it ironic that this card is best used in Mantis shugenja and best used against Mantis DGC?

You say that like we don't have 2 other (Unicorn and Crab) and possibly 1 more (Spider) commander deck entering the field next arc. Would be good against all of the above.

Great card, but who plays Thunder Shugenja?

I find it odd that Design went ahead with the theme going into the next arc. They have been making an effort to remove themes that are supported by only one faction. Thunder is Mantis specific and it looks to be the only offensive Shugenja theme in the next arc. All the other Shugenja themes appear to be defensive honor.

This also means that Mantis will have 2 Shugenja themes... when i think Mantis, spell casters don't usually come to mind.

that isn't necessarily true. Naval is mostly mantis, Cavalry is mostly Unicorn (lets be serious here), and mechanics wise those two are by far the most two broken keywords, but technically not "themes" or whatever they like to call them.

They could possibly give Phoenix thunder shugenjas or whatever.

Yeah, there have been a few thunder shugenja from the phoenix clan recently.

Also, this spell just gets better if used by a thunder shugenja... it's still "good" being used by a shugenja of another element. I think that they are just trying to make thunder similar to the other spells... IE a spell that is good "Harpoon a personality" but gets better if you are water "Immediately take another action".
