I REALLY like this card. It's only slightly worse than civility... but an oni deck that gets a body during the open phase for defense or for that extra "oomph" on attack is a scary oni deck indeed.

So, unexpected arrival without the suck for non-humans? I think the thing that made civility was strong was that it was a discarded personality, allowing for buying from your provinces without a problem. If you are odd on gold anyways, I find that sometimes I would prefer to have an extra personality a turn early and spend all my gold efficiently to buy the rest of the gold or the other personality afterwards, this card allows that.

It's the refilling face up that really does it for me, especially since out of the nonhuman box you should be cycling through provinces like the cards are on fire. By far the more interesting of these two previews, though it feels like they're really pushing nonhumans in a swarmy direction instead of big, bad oni.

I think it works for both... for oni a death sentence is not seeing gold early or oni/big non-human late during turn. For goblins it just makes them a swarm deck that is their power. I like the versatility of utilizing the same box for both, as well as this action as it shows some real forsight in terms of non-humans surviving in the environment. Goblin scout swarm anyone?

The restriction on having 2 personalities may keep this card from seeing play.

Lets assume that we are playing a Big Oni style deck. The typical turn 2 play will be a large body and 2 holdings. Turn 3 you buy 2 more bodies. You won't be able to play Rise until your 4th turn. Against control turn 4 acceleration is still good, but against other military you really need turn 3 acceleration to push your body count to 2 to guarantee a province that turn(assuming your avg personality is 7f).

Against other military you could use this card turn 4 and swing for 2 provinces, but that means
your dynasty phase will only buy you 1 defender. Since you are likely going second you will need to start leaving back personalities to threaten your opponents attacking armies and 1 defender is not enough to
bluff with.

In a deck with smaller bodies, like goblins, you could play this on turn 3. It will have a much larger impact as you probably go from 7-8 force to 9+, enough to take a province... but who wants to play non-humans with small bodies?

I think you're underestimating the late-game potential; if you're in a typical military province trading scenario, and you're at 1 to the opponent's 2 on your turn five, say, or even later if there were unsuccessful attacks.. this can allow you to still get multiple guys, especially considering the first holding you flip you can replace with the early discarded guys out of the nonhuman box. Yes, it's nice early from midsized swarm, but it's also much better than civility late thanks to the famous bazaar effect.
