L5R RPG?
I had been talking with Sleep and Anthony on the ride home for a bit about the idea of an L5R game that I would like to run, but my main crux is that my social life and my gaming life are at odds as they try and dominate me. I have a few too many games going on, and my main one is every other Sat I run a Ravenloft game in Sarasota. However, I just put an end date on that game. Within seven months it should be over.
I know, seven months doesn't seem so close. But, its what I have. So I do plan on running an L5R RPG within the year. Who is interested in playing in it so I can know if it is something I should focus on?

Awesome. I will let you know, the start of the adventure is doing to be at like... Rank 0. The gempuku will be done at the Topaz Championship!
Also it will be pre-Scorpion Clan Coup.

Any particular reason why? Because that timeline is kinda "mushy" for a lot of us and our knowledge of the world/characters would be seriously hindered. But if you have a good reason why I'll trust your judgement. Just will make DMing it that much harder.

I'm okay with it, I'll have to do research though.

The reason for this is because, some of the best stories are told from the beginning. Besides, its a better way to explore that period of the game that helped define what we know today. However, I am not going to simply thrust you into a situation with no background, and I will slowly expand the world around you so that you unconsciously get an idea of what the world is like around you.

Please do! I am giving you advanced warning, so in the meantime kick back and enjoy the melody.

All the social protocols have been roughly unchanged for a thousand years in Rokugan, as well as most of the geography (Beiden Pass wouldn't be blocked off, off the top of my head). Who owns what might be different, but largely it would simply be different names and faces.Sleep wrote:Any particular reason why? Yep and depending on the storyline, if you are young samurai you might not know or care about most of rokugan.

I was thinking more chain of command esque things. Knowing the prominent people in your clan, knowing your family daimyo, etc.
I really like doing little vignettes or stories after sessions as a "recap" for my session. This usually involves internal struggles and thoughts about my characters lord and other people.

*shrug* So you do some research, you do some reading and you let corey deem who is important or not.

I am right there with you Sleep. As time progresses in the story, you should have a larger idea of who is who, and how everything is moving. At first, you may only know about your Family and your Champion for example.
