If you want more reading material, please bring a USB to the normal Tuesday L5R games.

For those who have the base book, make sure to read through it understand the rules, if you have questions let me know and start thinking about the concept for your character. You may also use a sample character if that looks like what you want. Let me know if you have any questions.

Within the next couple weeks I want to set up for a evening of sitting down, having a discussion of the campaign, characters, and watching something over some pizza... Right now I'm torn over blade-runner or one of the ghost in the shell animated movies. Let me know...

Sweeet. Id be up for that. I love me some Bladerunner and Ghost in the Shell. And unless my job situation suddenly changes, Im free all week.

So with the introduction of high technology meeting cyberpunk I also wish to follow in the foot-steps of a fellow GM (Our own admin SLEEP) and utilize Obsidian portal as a sharing and collaboration website.

The goal is for the characters to not only utilize it as a between meeting forum for their actions, but also for collaboration on dates and to interact with the storyline/plan in between games.

Please go ahead and check out the site and sign up for an account, I'll be making a campaign for you guys shortly.

http://www.obsidianportal.com/

I'll be posting the campaign portal here sometime tonight...

Hoping to post some initial stuff after we sit down for the first meeting. Please post your availability once you get added.

Post your phone number info everyone so I can get everyone on the line. Please remember to bring USB's next week the tuesday card session if you want additional books.

Here's the plan:

If everyone is available Thursday the 12th of next month (or next Thursday if we want to do it sooner), we can do an initial meeting to talk about characters, the campaign adventure, and watch a movie and enjoy some pizza. If everyone is up for that please let me know so I can get some planning done for it. Sooner the better, as we have found out that a member can't join us we still have 1-2 spots open (max of 4-5 players), if you know someone who might be interested and is particular cool and understands the genre, please let me know by posting their info and let them know about it.

Worst case, we start with 3 runners and look at recruiting some people with in-game outsourcing filling in the gaps (a build in contact mechanic in the system).

Not really, We are mostly aiming to do a planning and talking session, talk about the game introducing each other, have some food, discuss the style of the game that people want to play.

Re: Running in the Shadows...

For those looking at character builds... Here are the rules we are running with:

380 BP
One Attribute at 5 max; all other Attributes at 4 max (modified by metatype; normal costs, i.e. 10 BP for every point)
Magic 4 max
One Skill at 5 max or two at 4 max; all other Skills and Skill Groups at 3 max (same limits also apply to Knowledge Skills)
Availability
8 max (up to 12 with the Restricted Gear Quality; only exception: Fake
SINs and Licenses can be up to AV 12 as normal)
Free points to buy Contacts equal to Charisma x3

Max Starting Cash: 100,000 Nuyen (20 bp)
Willing to be a little more flexible if you can make your case or your character needs it up to a max of 150,000 Nuyen (30 bp)

Equipment, qualities and rules from the base books, if you see something in one of the other books that you really want (like a quality or a spirit guide) we might be able to work something out but equipment should come from the core book.

Re: Running in the Shadows...

Post  CrypticApathy on Sat Jul 14, 2012 1:07 am

Pat,

Can i take the Phoenix as my spirit? Its from the street magic book, but the only spirit in the core rules is the bear and it triggers bezerk if someone gets hurt to bad and i dont see that as being a good thing for starting out. Where as the Phoenix is - 1 die to binding tests.

Phoenix
Phoenix is the ultimate expression of creative energy, to
the extent that it is reborn from its own ashes in a fiery display.
It symbolizes vibrancy, resurrection, and the life-giving
energy and cyclical nature of the sun. The Phoenix is beautiful,
regal, and honest, and in Chinese mythology she is the
Phoenix Empress, the counterpart of the Dragon Emperor
and symbol of the balance of yin and yang. Phoenix magicians
are often vibrant, energetic, and creative individuals who can
not be slowed down.
Advantages: +2 dice for Health spells, +2 dice for fire
spirits.
Disadvantages: –1 die for Binding Tests.

I'd be fine with that.

Just make sure to read the mechanics for mages.

If you want to go the rigger thing we talked about we can figure it out.

FOR OTHER PLAYERS:
I want your concept, remember we have two mages at the moment.

One is leaning healer/support.
