A Short L5R campagin

Post  Tsuruchi Saito on Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:20 pm

Hey all, I was talking to Jason and we've been discussing starting a short L5R campaign until Corey is ready to start his. I have a couple friends who are up for playing, so we'll have a good sized group. Everyone is invited, of course =) We'll have to talk about when we can meet. I was thinking Sunday afternoons.

No chance of recording it? I can see if the others can meet Saturday, but we're talking about probably 3 hours at most on those days. Wouldnt be too horrible, but also not ideal.

Lets meet up at 1 or 2? Ill be in Tampa all day. But once we're there we can find a time that works for all of us. This week we'll be making characters (no need to print anything out unless you want to)

My address in Tampa is: 13855 Azalea Circle, Apt 202 33613. It's right on Bruce B Downs by USF. Is that good for you Nick? Or do you need a ride?

I'll be able to get a ride over there, but I'll need one back if that's not a problem. I can cover for gas if necessary.

Hopefully we can get this worked out, but if not, we can work around that too. Nick, you're familiar with the rules, right? You can pretty much make a character and I'll look over it. Im not changing any of the default character creation rules.

Jason, if we cant meet up Sunday, Ill bring my computer this Tuesday so you can have the books. Then we can get your character made up throughout the week over skype or facebook chat or somesuch.

Story wise, the campaign is going to take place at the beginning of Emperor Edition, so Naleesh is still engaged with Shikei, etc etc etc.

The only restriction I have is no Sacred Weapon advantage. If you want a fancy weapon, Ill help you make one that isnt so overpowered.

That's ok! I just found out two of the others couldnt make it today either, but, since this is character creation day, that's no biggie. This way we can meet up next Sunday and play Very Happy

So far these are the characters people are making:

Hida Bushi (big, dumb, smash things)

Utaku Battle Maiden

Hiruma Bushi

Matsu Beastmaster

*possibly* Mirumoto Bushi.

So we're gonna have a nice large party Very Happy

It's going to start at the Topaz Championship, and be a more martial campaign since a lot of the players are newcomers and don't know much about the setting.

Also, I'm running a Lion's Shadow.

No info on the tourney. I was told my first character, a Shosuro Infiltrator, was no good since ninja don't fit well for this. Courtiers are also going to probably be hard to keep relevant unless it's a Kitsuki Investigator or another courtier who trains in combat. From what I'm aware we don't have a shugenja yet if you're interested in doing that.

Technically a shoruro infiltrator can be amazing, he just has to act and seem like a samurai, which isn't hard.

That is true, I wasnt thinking about a ninja posing as a normal bushi, so yeah, if you want to do that, Id be cool with it, Nick Smile

Pat:

No limit on clan, you can be anything you wish. It is going to be a more action oriented campaign, because many of the players arent very familiar with Rokugan. Honestly, I'd be happy to have another person playing who is more familiar with the setting.

The tourney is a classic Topaz Championship, all of your characters are considered amongst the best of your clans. It's the first Topaz Championship since the Imperial Governor opened up the colonies to all of the Great Clans, so the rivalry between the Clans is particularly intense.

Ill be screwing around with Canon, so while the major characters are the same, different things will be happening.

Oh, it's a bit undefined. It's clearly more than one per Clan, but there doesnt seem to be clearly defined rules about how many from each Clan is sent.
