Coils Boosters for $40 and Community Cards
Coolstuff has $40 dollar booster boxes of coils. If everyone put in $15 that would get us 3 boxes... seems like a good deal. The packs come with 7 cards, 2 uniques and 5 non-uniques, one of which is a full bleed. no rarities. we should end up with more than a play set of each card, and 3-5 copies of some of the more important uniques like temple to tengen.
On a side note, coolstuff is out of Gates.
I'm thinking of placing a big order, 3 aftermath and 3 coils. That would come out to $60 a person (representing the 7 people at Pat's today plus my brother James) and would get us a full play-set of each of those sets for the group. As we recruit new players, their $60 could go towards purchases of Gates of Madness. Then whenever a new set comes out it, everyone pitches in $15 for boxes of the new set.
So to summarize, everyone would put in $60 now, to catch us up on the backlog of cards, then it would be a $15 investment at each new set.
Let me know what you guys think.
PS - i've already got $15 from Corey Beehan(sp?)

Before you put in such a large order at once, maybe consider the fact that this is the week before christmas and some people may have issues with coming up with 60$ up front like that. Especially since many of us decided to order the holiday pack which was $75.00.

If its an issue with anyone then I can just order a box of aftermath for us to draft.

Sounds fine. 60 bucks is a cheap buy in for fun.

Thinking about it, I still like the club concept. We can just wait till feb when ivory releases, and have everyone put in $100, then $15-25 with each new set

So here is another idea. We can run fundraiser events like drafts and constructed tournies. Entry fee would be like $10 and would go to the community card pool. Participation would get you event tokens and winning events would net you more tokens. Then for koteis, card priority would be based on tokens.

I'm all for this kind of idea. I think small events guage participation and participation nets experience and is the best use of the otokodate's resources.
