Battles in the frozen north!

Post  togashi_naiteiru on Fri Nov 21, 2014 10:43 am

Step one of winning a tourney, making it to the air port on time! Achieved.

I will send updates here as I can. I think the Facebook page will be the best for following live tomorrow.

I brought a handful of trades. What namely should I be trading for, for our chase rare sets?

Overwhlming offense and lane of immorality are the only cards that come to mind.

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about a new order. We are basically inactive till 20 festivals drops. That means cards like raiden o tsuchi, which is barely playable now, might be phased out by better cards by the new base set.

So here is my evaluation of cards from the new order, ymmv so do what you think is best corey.

Overwhelming offense: one of the beter actions atm but not so amazing that most people will trade the honor loss for the action. 3-4 copies should be plenty.

Lane of immorality: the stock on this card will only go up with The Forgotten Legacy. A lot of factions will consider lkaying it, even with the honor loss. We need a minimum of 2 playsets.

A new alliance: fighting for slots with vtd already, it'll be hard pressed to find slots in most decks. In 30 or so games online since new order dropped I've never seen it played. 4 copies is plenty imo.

Strength of the 5th ring: it'll be a 2 of in most shugenja decks, but its still a spell, there won't be a ton of demand for it. 1 playset

Soul of man: good for control decks which we don't usually play a ton of. A playset should be fine.

Raiden otsuchi: really mediocre already, doesn't give chi and melee 3 isn't that good for 8g. Won't see play over cards like jigoku or ritual blessings. I wouldn't trade for these at all.

Demolisher:  a good card for decks that can find room for shrine to hachiman. I think one playset is enough.
Keppo: he's good but his ability is kind of narrow. He will be a 2 of in some decks that can float the honor loss.
4-5 copies should be good.

1/0! Faced Phoenix high force Shugenja assault. Stole tempo in their first attack with Reprisal and Come One At a Time in the end to seal the deal.

2/0 faced Lion Swarm, and got hold screwed. Then I started to exchange and the appearance of Calvary won me the game, stealing tempo as his swarm built. He split his attacks to do me in, and I out forced him.

2/1 faced spider dueling/blitz! I lost tempo on a failed attack, but I was able to fight right to the end, but he had the cards in hand to defeat me.

2/2 a loss to unicorn honor. She saw all the cards, shut me down at ever chance (3 flashy techniques!) I believe I am out, but that was a great fight Smile
