I recently picked up a couple of keys for FFXIV cheap on black friday, so a few of us will be playing the game (primarily patrick and I) for the first free month.  Not sure if anyone else has been interested in this game (I've played it for quite a bit, and can vouch for it, and it's pretty much universally critically acclaimed), but if so, please let us know and we'll get together and form a guild and all.

Let me know!

Corey and Patrick playing FFXIV!
(Kibo and Haftoof, respectively)

So Patrick and I booted up FFXIV earlier this evening, and it was an absolute blast. I played the game pretty thoroughly up until about 6 months ago, and Patrick had never played. I absolutely adore the game and think that it deserves much more praise... but that's a different discussion for a different day. Similar to how I posted pics of Guild Wars 2 when Patrick and I played it, I plan on posting pics of Kibo and Haftoof's journey to gain fame, found the Forgotten Bay Free Company (Guild), build a house, and conquer the lands of Eorzea.  Here they are:

1. An Introduction...

The Forgotten Bay and Final Fantasy XIV Kiboha10

There's Kibo (on the left) and Haftoof (on the right) in their raw, level 1 glory. Kibo, in Patricks words, has a "dashing musketeer moustache".  Haftoof, in Corey's words, has "Weird zombie flesh". They were best friends on first sight.

2. Kibo at the falls...

The Forgotten Bay and Final Fantasy XIV Kiboha11

This is just a shot of Kibo standing in front of Gridania's beautiful waterfalls, with a mail delivery moogle floating in the background. Haftoof was not pictured, as he is an uncultured swine who knows not the convenience of mail (AKA he was afk getting pizza so I took a glamor shot).

3. Beautiful beautiful non-matching MMO gear...

The Forgotten Bay and Final Fantasy XIV Kiboha12

Kibo looks with disdain at the ugly shoes and "awkward white guy in shorts" look that Haftoof has going on (withthegoofylegs). Haftoof seemed to keep quiet about the very loud mustard yellow hat that Kibo was sporting. The struggle is real in Eorzia.

4. OMFG FAT CHOCOBO...

The Forgotten Bay and Final Fantasy XIV Kiboha13

So, you are just casually leveling up killing ladybugs and squirrels and such, when you turn a corner and you see this barreling towards you. I think the only thing that saved Kibo and Haftoof from a collision (and certain death) was the traffic cone on Kibo's head. Haftoof got picked up by a trucker shortly thereafter, who caught him "showing leg".

5. The sun sets on day one...

The Forgotten Bay and Final Fantasy XIV Kiboha14

The sun sets as Kibo and Haftoof finally start looking like proper adventurers. And by proper I mean, "poofy shirt and purple jeans".  But still, it was about this moment that shit started getting real. I was level 10 and Haftoof wasn't far behind me, we knew that our first major milestone was almost complete.

6. The Future Awaits...

The Forgotten Bay and Final Fantasy XIV Kiboha15

Haftoof and Kibo, standing in the shadows of a mountain after slaying a giant Alpha Anole (basically a goofy looking Jurassic Park raptor that shoots frost breath).

Haftoofs armor has now been upgraded quite significantly, and Kibo stands brave behind him, ready to heal his friend through thick and thin.  Who knows what the future holds in store for our intrepid adventurers... FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON DRAGON. BALL. Z!
