The 2015 Spring Kotei Season is off to an amazing start. So the Major Events Manager has decided – “Things are going so well let’s add another event!” – Well that is exactly what we are doing. We are adding a special midsummer story line event this year. The event has a number of really cool and unique aspects listed below:

[*]The entire event is basically a Grinder to the 2015 World Championship held at Gen Con August 1, 2015. Every player with 15 match points or better gets a seed. You heard me! Everyone who goes the equivalent of 5 & 2 or better will be qualified to play in the World Championship.

[*]This event will have full Kotei Level prize support. So expect all the great stuff you normally see and more!

[*]This will be the only Thunderous Acclaim Legal Event Prior to Gen Con. That’s right, not only will Thunderous Acclaim be part of the prize pool, but due to the July release of ThA, this will be the only chance to practice in a full event.

With the ascension of Iweko Seiken to the throne of Rokugan as Iweko II, the Empire celebrates the continuity of the Iweko Dynasty. Blessed by Heavens to rule Rokugan with wisdom and honor, the Emperor nonetheless needs to ensure he will himself have an heir to carry his name in due time. Looking to create stronger bonds between himself and one of the clans who tutored him, the Emperor will soon choose a bride. Beyond a simple marriage, such a choice will have tremendous impact on the political scene of Rokugan, and courtiers of all clans are doing everything they can to ensure the Emperor’s choice comes from within the ranks of their clan. At the same time, the forces of the Spider scheme to ensure the Emperor has reason to regret his disdain for their clan.
The winner of this tournament may select any one female personality from their faction to serve as the bride of the Emperor, a position often referred to as the Empress but also known as the Imperial Consort. Any female personality introduced via a personality card or previously existing within the established story, such as one of the named but as-yet-uncarded daimyo of the various families within the Great Clans, is suitable. The chosen personality must be unmarried, of course, and in the event that the winner is unsure of his choice’s eligibility, the Story Team will work with him to ensure that he has a list of eligible candidates.
In addition to this great story prize, the event will be remembered in the form of a card in a future set.
As if all of these cool factors were not enough, the entire event is themed to celebrate the wedding of not only the future Emperor but also the wedding of our very own Don Eisele. Don has been a long time contributor to L5R. He has run hundreds of events over the years, worked with the Events Team at Gen Con, currently handles the Oracle and Imperial Assembly websites, and too many other things to list here. Don was recently engaged to his long time girlfriend and they are planning to marry not long after Gen Con. All proceeds from this event will go to help them pay for the wedding and honeymoon.

meh I'll see how i feel closer to the date. Its a gencon grinder which is nice. And getting to put a crab chick as consort? Its  neat event.

its 2 weeks after our kotei too, not sure how that will impact anyone's decision.  A commitment to this event is basically a commitment to gencon. If we decided as a group to do both this and gencon, i'm game, as im really enjoying l5r atm. If the majority are not interested then im out.

I'd consider it......didn't realize that this tournament is the one that decides the bride not the the tournament your grinding into. Most likely this would be a drive over there on a thursday night to drive straight through obviously shift driving. Then I recovery afternoon friday so that we can be fresh saturday for the tournament. Drive back Sunday with a planned day off on Monday as well. It would be a rough trip for sure.

That's not too bad, I do it for rock climbing all the time.
