Not a fan of civility. Someone once told me that if the personality you civility can't solo a province then you shouldn't do it. I think that slot could be better utilized somehow.

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
I figure any battle maiden can take a province with a riding in harmony, it's mostly also for smoothing out gold so you can flood the board. IE buy more gold second turn then civility someone in third turn to swing.

1 outer walls/1 thriving light and 2x civility comes out for 3x cost of pride. Other option is dropping the proper deference, don't know on that.

Considering dropping PD all together, keeping civility, and finding room for a 3rd shameful and cowardly (not that I have a third :/)

Feel like playing something different from my standard, been playing attachment heavy commander decks out of unicorn for a long time.

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
Drop Daikoku's imo. Doesn't do enough for this deck to risk losing a Shinjo's.
Drop an Expendable for Chugo Seido and try to fit in a third Blessed herd.
An Alter History would be nice too.
I also dislike Civility in this deck, doesnt give you enough tempo to make it worth the slot.
Considering how well Crane is doing, i'd drop Inexorable for Beloved and put in the third copies of PD and S&C. Besides there aren't any regions or terrains that really hurt Battle Maidens.
You are cav, Ring of the Void is practically useless. You could probably afford to drop to 2 sneaks for the same reason.

Daikoku improves overall gold in a blitz deck, don't you run daikoku out of lion? Additionally it plays nicely in tandem with kitsune den.
As for shinjo's I'm considering dropping it all together... it simply activates unstable ground for all of my people.
I was considering dropping expendable for counting house, the card draw is important.
While its easy to say that "cavalry" automatically means you don't go to an opposed battle, that's often not the case, especially against honor matchups this deck wants to go to battle.
It purposely runs on engagement combo to make that work, which is the reason for 3x sneak, and ring of void.
Alter-history is on the consideration, don't own one though.
Short of changing large amounts of the deck based on no play-testing I'm gonna mostly stick with what I have, its done well at 2 kotei's already.

Toshie, Kana, Yu-Pan, and Utaku Elite already do that for you. Never drop Shinjo's out of Maidens.Moto Damasko wrote:As for shinjo's I'm considering dropping it all together... it simply activates unstable ground for all of my people.

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
So my review of the deck against an odd LSC and big crab heroes.
The deck ran all over the hero deck, but I don't know whether that was bad draws or not. The "combo" nature of the deck is awesome in terms of kill actions/pre-battle control/harpoon.
Like I said the deck chooses to attack in opposed because it effectively runs its own for of dynasty side sneak attack (2 personality combo) which can be huge. I like that desperate rush goes through weapons, and I love downhill assault, that card wreck's face. Considering running scouting as a possibility for more combo-tastic fun but hard to find a place (could drop the civility), we shall see.
As for LSC/crane honor the deck is tough and I know my match-up against it is tough as well, I need to buy lots of gold and get lots of bodies and flush hard for new order/chen. Beyond that the opposed battle with shameful is huge and The wind never stops abuses the crap out of the force penalty for instant dishonor kill.
My one consideration (pending playing more honor decks) is putting in two proper deference and dropping a single shameful.
I also need to play against dishonor to learn how to counter it.

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
So changes I want to give a try today...
So... some change-up's.
-1 outer walls
-2 Civility
-3 elite guard
-3 rout
Proper def goes in (honor)
False accusation goes in (dishonor/military)
Cavalry tactics goes in (move in/rehonor)
2x of each.
3x My life is yours (multiple bow)
Dynasty side
-2 barley farm (bye bye shiney promo T..T, no rout means no use)
+2 oyo seido (dishonor meta)

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
So you're running naked Maidens? I like the Proper Def add and the Civ drop, I don't like My life is Yours one bit. I'd keep Utaku Elite Guard- it lets you solo a province on Kana, Tohie, or Yu-pan so it's another Riding in Harmony 3rd turn with the bonus of being persistent afterwards. My life is yours seems like a pretty niche card- is it your Breeder meta? If not I'd throw something more versatile like Superior Mobility in there.Moto Damasko wrote:

It's my consideration for breeder meta that doesn't suck against everyone else and is solid vs lion.

The drop False Accusation and keep Elite Guard imo- you don't want *too* much Force redux anyway.

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
Something like this?:
# Fate (41)
# Strategies (35)
3 The Wind Never Stops
3 Riding in Harmony
3 Downhill Assault
3 Desperate Rush
2 Outer Walls
3 Shameful and Cowardly
3 Sneak Attack
2 Inexorable Defeat
3 Determined Force
2 Proper Deference
1 Preparedness
1 The Thriving Light
1 Ultimate Sacrifice
2 My Life Is Yours
3 The Cost of Pride
# Followers (3)
3 Utaku Elite Guard
# Items (1)
1 Heavenly Lance of the Unicorn
# Rings (2)
1 Ring of the Void
1 Ring of Water
My only consideration is on whether the guard are pulling their weight. If they aren't then I want to replace them with something that does.

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
They're one of the best force to gold ratio followers in the game; they're another Maiden so they benefit Kana, Toshie, and get the bump from Yu-pan; and they're cheap attachment protection.
edit: and drop something to go to 40- maybe a Determined Force?

force is solid, ranged 2 kill action off downhill, it kills spuds, and its powerful for the unopposed defense. It's important to have 3. I'm fine with sitting at 41 with a ring of void floating about.
rout is out for my life is yours. The follower is fine as well, just wish I could fit those two false accusations in, but we shall see with more play. I was highly let down by PD today, but then again I need to play an actual crane honor runner, the lcs I'm playing is "odd". Either way the deck is fun as hell to play and does relatively okay.

Re: Unicorn Battle Maidens
To put it league of legends style, the deck has consistency problems and falls over to deck types that run justly. IE every single military deck that should be playing besides naked lion that it also loses too. So... League of Legends style... "Executed!", I'll be moving onto a deck based on the Tacoma unicorn build.
