Fire, Shikishi, Domotai (after BK). OH NOES! David attaches a writ to
Shikishi. Writ dishonors Chuda Seikai. Pull the string (-6 honor).
Thriving Light kills the Private Shrine. Shikishi bows to Deceit and
Subterfuge (Dan at -7 honor). Gisei bows to cause to honor loss (-9).
Gisei bows to cause two honor loss (-11). Counting House draws a card.
Goes to dynasty, buys Market Place and Shikishi.

Makes a baby with the box. David bows Shuzo. David plays a Taxing the

Flips Dockside Market and Nukada. Two giseis cause 4 honor loss (-19). Draws some cards and buys Nukada. 5 cards in hand.

Trav Ped, Inisi, and Border Village. Shuzo makes a zombie. Legendary
Feud a zombie. Pass/pass. Dan forgot to make a guy and calls himself an
idiot. I agree. Swings with 4 guys at both provinces, leaving the
dishonorable guys at home. David double blocks one of them, resolve the
other first. Pass/pass crunch. Delayed Conflict sends two guys home.
Unclean Sacrifice makes two zombies. Unnatural Hunger kills the other
defender. Doji's Guidance + favor sends two home, but it is not enough.
Dan crunches the province. Dan wins game 1 at -19. On to game 2.

Seikai, Border Villages, Barley Farm, Shimoen Marsh (after BK). Buy Border and Shinomen. 7 cards in hand.

David turn 2
Famous
Bazaar, Dockside Market. Famous flips Kokiden. Buys Gisei and Dockside
Market (with SP, loses 2). Discards Counting House. 8 cards in hand.

Dan turn 2
Flips Inisi and Shinomen Marsh. Buys Seikai, Inisi, Barley Farm, and Shinomen Marsh. 8 cards in hand.

David turn 3
Hakuseki,
trav ped, public records. Favor of Artisans gains David two. Inisi
gives birth. David decides what to buy. Like a kid in the candy store.
Decides to Gisei for 2 honor (-2). Buys Kokiden with Smuggler Port, goes
to 4, realizes he bought them out of order, so now has to buy Hakuseki
at two more. 8 cards in hand.

Dan turn 3
Trav Ped, Private
Shrine, Atsuro, DooF. Dan creates a guy. Legendary Feud a zombie.
Pass/pass. Dan again realizes he shouldn't have passed and calls himself
a scrub. I again agree. 3 zombies attack, private shrine to 9, take the
province. Buys Atsuro, makes a baby, Dark Oracle, and trav ped. 8 cards
in hand.

David turn 4
Seimi, Gisei, Famous Bazaar. Hakuseki
issues a challenge to the honorable Chuda Seikei who refuses the duel.
Dan Subtle Stings Kokiden and reaizes it is an illegal play. See
previous points about idiot and scrub.
Subtle Stings Gisei instead. Double pull the string plus Kokiden (-10
honor). Goes to Dynasty. Famous Bazaar flips a Marketplace. Buys the MP,
Gisei, and Seimi. 6 cards in hand.

Dan turn 4
Flips Otsu,
Otsu, Barley, Atsuro. Stronghold makes a zombie. David taxes the scum
(-12). Trust the void attaches to Atsuro. Pass. Atsuro casts it. Claw
and Sheel, Unnatural Hunger, Final Duty. Claw and Shell to the discard.
Dan uses BK 2. Shuzo, Expendable Resources, Udo, Inisi. The zombies look
hungry. Braaaaains. They attack at two provinces, 3 zombies at each.
The brave sir Robin, er, Hakuseki, defends a different province. Dan
uses two force pumps and takes both, buying Shuzo for full to -11. 8
cards in hand.

David turn 5
Flips Doji's Guidance. Kokiden for
2 honor (-13). BK flips Nukada. Favor of the Artisans + OAS = 2 cards
drawn. Math is fun. Pitches RoV for a card, because that is relevant to
you reading this. Attaches the Ancient Tome to Kokiden. Counting House
for a card. Gisei 1 hits for 1 honor. Gisei 2 hits for 3 honor (-17).
Lobby for the favor, Seimi causes 2 loss. (-19). Deceit and Subterfuge
for 1 and the game. Going to game 3.

Game 3

David turn 1
They wish each
other luck again, which is nice. I don't think Dan means it. After BK 1
he flips 3 guys and a Public Records. Dan celebrates the bad draw. I
knew he didn't wish David luck for real. What a jerk. BK 2 buys MP and
Public Records. Seimi and Shikishi left in province. 7 cards in hand.

Dan turn 1
After BK, buys traveling peddler and shinomen marsh, leaves atsuro, pitches Dark Oracle of Fire. 7 cards in hand.

David turn 2
Flips
Nukada and Gisei. Hilarity is ensuing. I think Dan is masking the pain
with humor. Buys Shikishi and Seimi. 8 cards in hand.

Dan turn 2
Flips
Private Shrine, Gutobo, Susumu. Pitches Void for a card. Again,
irrelevant to you reading this. Shikishi takes the favor. Buys Susumu
for full (2 honor) and Atsuro, who makes a baby. Pitches Gutobo. 8 cards
in hand.

David turn 3
Flips Yosuga and Kazunori. Favor of
Artisans draws him a card. Attaches a writ. Dishonors Atsuro. Pull the
String plus Seimi (-3 honor). Seimi dances around a bit. That was
important for you to read. Seimi takes the favor. David asks if he can
go to his "win game" phase. Buys Nukada and Gisei.

Dan turn 3
Flips
Inisi, Oki, Border Village, traveling peddler. Dan makes a zombie. What a cute
little zombie. Veiled Menace plus nukada make shim lose 3 (-6 honor).
Dan calls himself a moron. For a third time, I agree. Susumu bows
Shikishi. Nukada legendary Feuds a zombie. To be honest, it does not
look legendary. Dan predicts that David is trying to play void. David
passes. Good call Dan. Dan attacks with all his guys and loses 3 honor
form VM and LF (-9 honor). No defense. Atsuro gets favored home. Private
Shrine to 9F. Outer Walls to 9 PS. Border Ambush to 12F. Kazunori, aka
Mr. Happy Pants (according to David) is killed in province. Dan buys Oki
for 6 honor (-3).

David turn 4
Flips Famous and Famous.
Public Records. Oki stops Nukada from attacking. Gisei for 2 honor plus
nukada for 1 (-6). Shikishi takes the favor. Subtle Sting Seimi. All
three games with the Subtle Sting. David seems annoyed. David goes to
use his BK for a third time. ACTIVE JUDGING!!!! Dan asks me how he wins
at this game and claims to be so bad at this. I give him a nodding
approval. Famous flips a Gisei. Buys Gisei. 5 cards in hand (I think).

Dan turn 4
Flips
Udo, Barley Farm, Shinomen Marsh. Makes a zombie. Susumu bows Nukada.
All 5 guys attack and crush a province. Buys Inisi, Marsh, and Barley
Farm. 8 cards in hand.

David turn 5
David flips Noritoshi and
Okimoto. Seimi makes him lose 2 honor plus 1 from Nukada (-9). Inisi
gives birth. Seimi Deceit and Subterfuges (-10). Public Records to
rearrange the top 3. David is shaking his head and making a sad face. He
says "Darn my deck". Lets watch the language fellas. Public Records is
still being resolved. David claims he is a @#!&#@! and doesn't
rearrange the cards. Attaches an Ancient Tome. Draws a card. Pull the
String (-13). Gisei twice for 2 each (-17). Attaches a writ to Shikishi.
Dishonors Susumu. Buys Okimoto. 4 cards in hand.

Crane Honor beats non-breeder military, Breeder beats Crane honor, dishonor/slander beats breeder.

Overall, Slander has good matchups as it beats all honor and dishonor decks. It's weakness is it has to race military decks to dishonor victory before losing via military.

Here it from the judge herself

The Honor Competition for Columbia is titled "The Spring Artisan
Festival." In the lovely lands of the South, the sun has made a
glorious return. The flowers have awakened and the pine trees have
covered us in their yellowy glory- Spring has sprung. To celebrate
both the Kotei and this seasonal event, we have commissioned a small
competition of artistic ability. Any fine arts type product is
applicable, though we stress greatly that creation is a big aspect here-
if you didn't produce it, we don't want it. Items will be judged on
originally, creativity, and representation of theme (Spring). We do
highly encourage you to confine your creativity to the bounds of
traditional Rokugani art. The judge for this event? None other than
yours truly: First Lady of the Columbia Kotei. Verbal flattery is
pointless (I'm a teacher, I've heard it all suckers), but artistic
flattery is highly encouraged. .
And in the vein of complete disclosure, the judge for this event IS
married to a contestant of the Kotei, but worry not I'm a fair and harsh
mistress- no favoritism. Make your clan proud by securing a position as artisan-extraordinaire.
