A Short L5R campagin

Actually I'm considering a Spider monk, or a version of a dark moto, although I don't know if they put together a dark-winds school.

that would be pretty awesome. it will be nice o check out how most of the classes work. itl help me get a better understanding.

What's a Dark Moto, Pat?

Dark Moto No longer exist, but there is a well known unit of "Fallen" Moto known as the dark winds that was active during the destroyer war. With spider now being legit I'm considering a spider monk who's father was a member of that unit and who was a child when he was forced to leave the Unicorn Clan due to his father's affiliation. We'll see... figure he could be part of the same unit as Yuudai... I'll work it in.

Where is this being done? When and are we building characters at the first meeting? I ask because I need to look into the classes that are in parts of the other books than the two that I have.

We're going to meet on Sundays at my place. Im gonna try and actually start the campaign this Sunday.

If you want, I let you borrow my 4ed books, or if you bring a flash drive, I can get you the pdfs (there's actually one book that is only PDF) Tuesday.

And, odds are we'll start in the evening, so if you wanna come earlier Sunday, I can work through character creation with you. I like the character concept

They also have the best Rank 2 skill ever.

Note that it doesn't say "once per round" or "your personal onikage". You also don't have to be in the Shadowlands to summon one. Sneak a Dark Moto into a crowded city, and have him go all "RISE, MY HORSES!"

That will work... I can bring a flash drive, I have a couple of 4e's I just don't have a couple of them that the class would come from. When you say, your place you mean in Sarasota? Or up here in Tampa?

Dark Moto also tend to be undead or heavily tainted, also the dark moto school is an advanced school...

But the dark winds would be a cool concept since yuudai associated with the monks of the order of the spider as well during the storyline. We'll see...

Exactly. If he possessed a lick of taint, or at least enough that you'd be able to tell with Jade, he would have been shipped to the Colonies and done his gempukku amongst the Conquerors.

Im not sure that he would be shipped to the Conquerors. I think after 25 years, a tainted Spider would just be executed for breaking the Empress' decree that there no tainted Spider should be in the Empire.

oh well then nevermind i guess were all good

Also keep in mind that sohei are really one of the few remaining remnants of the spider in the clans... Besides the courtiers of the daigotsu and susumo families.

The Book of Earth, which comes out around December/January-ish, is supposed to have more info on the new Spider Clan.

I was telling Pat, if you write up the game of 20 questions in the core rulebook and/or a bio of your character, you'll get extra experience. Your characters are all very young, so quite a bit of your biography might go into the details of your parents, as that is how the samurai of the empire will see you.

I won't be coming since today is just chargen and I need to drive my stepdad to the airport. I'll have the obsidian portal stuff filled out though.

Does 1 to 7 work for everyone?

Ok, this Sunday is our first meeting. As no one has said otherwise, we'll be meeting from 1 to 7.

If you havent, go ahead and post your character info on Obsidian Portal. It's not super important this week, but by next week, let's all have it up there. Extra experience is gonna be given for bios, weekly logs, and the game of 20 questions.

Jason: Want to meet up some time Saturday or Sunday before 1 to finish up your character?

Also, do we all want to get food while we play?

An address would be nice, I'll try to finish the questions and the sheet beforehand.

It's about five minutes from your place, just take Bearss to Bruce B Downs, turn right, then turn into the Parks at Conventry apartment complex. If you turn in at the sign, take an immediate right, then take a left into the gate (it's always open). Then drive straight down and park at the end of that road (if you turn right, youve gone too far)

How much xp (if any) was given out today?

Yeah, youre all going to get 4 exp for the first session. However, you cant really use it until after the Topaz Championship (it would make no sense for your skills to dramatically improve over the span of a day.)
