Columbia SC Kotei?
I know that Team Anthem will be making the trip up to Columbia for the SC Kotei to see Robyn and a lot of the crew up there. Anyone else making the trip? I know that Evan Paul (velo from the main forums) is planning on going, so there will be a lot of good competition regardless.

I believe all eight members of Platypus-Bear are going to be there. At the very least, the four of us who were at Sarasota will be attending. I can't wait... I wish I could afford to go to a Kotei every weekend...

prob won't be able to make this one. Even if i could i doubt i'd be able to get in any playtesting. Lessons learned from Koteis this year: don't expect much if you don't playtest.

So very true. You can have the best deck in the world, and be a strong player, but if you haven't put in the hours of play testing to know how to face your opponents deck, you will never be a champion. Case-in-point, my match vs Drive By Oni this weekend. All I had to do was build up an army and leave dudes to defend. my 3-4g duelists killing his 9-10g oni's would prove to win me the day by sheer attrition. I should have played like a breeder player, not like a blitz player. But now I know.

I plan on attending the SC kotei. This Kotei should be the toughest of any for the Southeast. We'll start playtesting for this one very soon.

SC honor competition
The Honor Competition for Columbia is titled "The Spring Artisan
Festival." In the lovely lands of the South, the sun has made a
glorious return. The flowers have awakened and the pine trees have
covered us in their yellowy glory- Spring has sprung. To celebrate
both the Kotei and this seasonal event, we have commissioned a small
competition of artistic ability. Any fine arts type product is
applicable, though we stress greatly that creation is a big aspect here-
if you didn't produce it, we don't want it. Items will be judged on
originally, creativity, and representation of theme (Spring). We do
highly encourage you to confine your creativity to the bounds of
traditional Rokugani art. The judge for this event? None other than
yours truly: First Lady of the Columbia Kotei. Verbal flattery is
pointless (I'm a teacher, I've heard it all suckers), but artistic
flattery is highly encouraged. .
And in the vein of complete disclosure, the judge for this event IS
married to a contestant of the Kotei, but worry not I'm a fair and harsh
mistress- no favoritism. Make your clan proud by securing a position as artisan-extraordinaire.
The Crane are all over this. Good Luck!

Perhaps the crane shall have competition from a certain Unicorn clan samurai who enjoys painting in his free time?

I don't really like the sound of a completely vague competition like that. Subjective honor contests are something I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

It's art... Art is vague, so is participating in court, or a trivia honor contest with vague questions that no newer player would know.

Art? I'm far to cynical to think what turns up in competitions like these is 'art' Macaroni Pictures anyone http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/151442/macaroni-picture-of-the-last-supper

I'm not a particularly big fan of this honor event either. Its a bit too open ended and subjective. Not that it matters to me anyways. I never have and most likely never will enter an honor event.

Roll call. Who all will be making it to this event?
Should there be no sudden surprises at the mechanic this week, I should be making the trip, along with (hopefully) 3 members of Team Anthem.
I suppose... I should get around to booking a hotel.
Oh, and building a deck. Feeling an awful lot like Trevor to be honest. Maybe I'll just build something the night before. Anyone know if Robyn is going to be awarding anything for bottom of clan?

I'll be doing my final piece for the art contest (Just got a hold of traditional rice paper) hopefully I'll stand a chance against little artisan girl. Have my deck together and I'm ready to go =)

I finally get to attend another kotei. I'm in the same boat as far as decks are concerned. I have something in the works, but I need more testing.
