No idea what to play for the Forgotten Bay event.
No idea what I want to play... I'm primarily a Crab and Phoenix player, and I feel that neither clans really field a super competitive deck right now. But then again, who knows in the aftermath of the banning of Kali-ma and the errata and Forests of the Shinomen.
I'm strongly considering playing a ronin deck in the event that it's a "name a personality", because I'd really like to get (now legend) Forgotten Bay Sensei "Bojatsu" into the story.
Realistically though, I have no idea.
What's everyone else thinking?

Since I'm the TO I have an unused crane deck looking for a home. It did recently top 8 at gencon I hear...

I'm usually a Spider player, but Unicorn is my second love and I haven't played them all arc. Maidens are a little to blitzy for my taste though, I'll probably go with commanders or some sort of strange shugenja thing.
Whatever I end up going with, I'm sure the Taint will find its way into the deck somehow. xD

you mean the event where the better story prize was? Then yes your correct. Doesn't mean the players were terrible. Still like playing the good players at any big tourney not just the Elite mighty Morphin He-man Voltron Dynasty players

Re: No idea what to play for the Forgotten Bay event.
I can't speak much for the Phoenix but as for the Crab, there are only 3 options that I see. Scouts, Berserkers and Yasuki. People around me preach about scouts being the best crab deck. Even though it has Crabs best match up against honor and dishonor, it is weak to a degree against the military match up. If you saw the report from gencon, there was a scout deck that made it to the top 4 of the main event. Apparently no one ran any boxable hate so a few decks made it farther than they really should have, this scout deck in particular. The fate side looks VERY strong, the dynasty not so much.
I don't know what you have been testing but as for me I am still working on zerkers. I have had to change the fate deck considerably, however I think that it is stronger than ever. The decks I have trouble with is (surprise) Trevor's lion, and the bomb dishonor. I am still working out the kinks. I think the lion match is going to be better with this build. I need to test it against dishonor again, and I will tomorrow. Honestly, with crane out like it is I think scorpion dishonor will not be seen very much.
With that said, I also am testing a yasuki deck for down there as well. As of SC we will have enough to make a formidable dynasty deck, and thanks to scorpion courtiers a devastating fate deck. If i can get that to work I most likely will be playing that. If you want the list to try it let me know.

Well. After testing last night, i have to say the honor match was much better for zerkers with the new additions but with the current build of scorpion courtiers, the dishonor match is unwinable. I guess it's a good thing scorpion courtiers cannot beat crane embassy
Zerkers still excel at the military match up. I think I will test scouts with a similar fate deck next.

Ok I am probably going to sound stupid but i just joined this forum and havnt played L5R since gold edition so like the 1st Yasuki war.
However i am going to start back up and i am intending of going to the Bradenton/sarasota event next week.
How have you guys already got emperor edition cards? I thought this event was the first release of the decks and boosters.
Not to sound to much of a newb but I was just wondering.

The boosters have been available since the draft release event in late January. The start decks are available after your store holds their sealed event (which we are holding on friday the 24th).
As far as playtesting goes, we've been playing with the Egg of Panku web client.

oh, before you buy anything else in EE, i would strongly encourage investing in forgotten legacies. It is probably the best bang for the buck set out there right now (direct to player, full playset available from AEG)
