Crane Defensive Honor by David Winner aka Doji Yoshi
Ivory has inspired me in a way that L5R has not inspired me in a long time: to think of Gold Edition.
Gold Edition was when I first started playing. When I first played Dragon and never won a game of L5R in any tournament evar..
I bought a lot of gold edition for failing so much. Well I happened to have these powder blue cards that my co-players never told me about.. the Crane.
And then I won games..
and tournaments.
Not recently mind you (EE WAS HORRID, don't let anyone tell you otherwise), but Ivory seems to be very toned down in ways like Gold edition, so I got to thinking that those Gold Edition decks might actually work. I don't know yet how the environment will shape up, so this is armchair play for now, but I hope to refine this for tournament level, or discard it all-together if it's not worthy as a Crane deck.
Let me explain: Crane did well in Gold Edition, but not in a traditional sense. You had to play cheap peeps, like Doji Okakura, who you'd normally never play because he's 2ph.. but because he was cheap and had force, you threw him in decks. I feel that Ivory is very much similar. You throw in basic actions, and force and it's quite difficult to get through that barrier when the best actions on the table are "bow a personality" actions.
So the idea is simple. Amazing Crane cards mixed with amazing non-crane cards focusing on one element: winning battles.
The deck lacks card draw but makes up for it in deck filtering.
This is primarily a defensive honor deck that allows for military but is not a straight military deck.
Any comments are welcome.

Re: Crane Defensive Honor by David Winner aka Doji Yoshi
Played a few games tonight.
Needs more card draw and more non-battle dishonor.
Marketplaces -> Small Time Bully, except 1 becomes Bamboo xp
Shigemitsu -> Oracle of the void
I'm certainly having fun with this deck.
Fall Back! Is in there because it's eject or straighten tech.
And the sensei mitigates the rest.
-2 uncovering the culprit
+1 back to the front
+1 Ring if Air
